MTED Hosts Training on Trademarks and Designs to Strengthen Intellectual Property Awareness

In the business and competitive market environment, it is crucial for every business owner to understand the importance of differentiating their product or service from those that are similar in the market and to register it to ensure legal protection from potential misuse by others. There are various business strategies used to differentiate a product or service, one of which is the use of trademarks and designs.

This week, MTED is organizing a complete training on trademarks and designs in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Japan Patent Office (JPO).Twenty businesses from the manufacturing sector had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the management and protection of intellectual property in their respective businesses.

Participants of this training emphasized the importance of having a brand or logo for their businesses, especially those involved in the creative and design industries, and they received support in establishing their own trademarks. The trainer for this session was Mr. Mark Robert DY, an intellectual property consultant from Australia.

The staff of the Intellectual Property Office of Tonga (IP Tonga) are ready to assist you with any questions you may have regarding intellectual property.
