The Ministry of Trade and Economic Develop (MTED) held a workshop yesterday for job seekers. This workshop program included a discussion of job seekers’ profiling and job matching process, a brief on the local labour market and employment opportunities in Tonga, and counselling on job choices and career options. The program also included brief presentations from employers in the private sector with vacancies. At the end of their presentations, job seekers had to opportunity to interact and engage directly with these employers on vacancies they are interested in or suitable for.

Yesterday’s workshop included 30 job seekers and 3 employers. In February 2023 the MTED recorded over 170 registered job seekers and over 100 vacancies in the local market. The MTED will continue to host and facilitate these workshops throughout the year, to assist job seekers to find suitable jobs as well as assist employers to fill needed labour gaps.
