Representing Tonga, the delegation was led by Hon. Lord Vaea, Minister of Internal Affairs, alongside MTED CEO Distaquaine Tu’ihalamaka and other senior officials from across various government sectors. This collaborative meeting fosters dialogue and sets the stage for resilient labour mobility frameworks that benefit workers, employers, and economies throughout the region.

Highlights included the Employer Forum and the Labour Sending Unit and Approved Employer Conference, where discussions focused on strengthening worker wellbeing and ensuring mutual benefits for all stakeholders. The meeting reaffirmed Tonga’s commitment to advancing the welfare and opportunities of our people within the Pacific labour mobility space.
